The Map + The Narrative

Fake Omaha is an experimental, mixed-media project based on a map. The places on the map are fictitious. Yet the project aims to be realistic. Fake Omaha is not a "perfect city". The idea is to work through real issues facing real metropolitan areas.

A recent addition to the project is a narrative – a set of stories that take place on the map.

In its fully realized form, Fake Omaha contains many narratives. They treat a wide range of issues, using a wide range of mediums, prepared by a wide range of collaborators.

Where to start?

For now, I am focusing on -one- narrative: public transit in metropolitan Fake Omaha. That's the piece that I am most qualified to compile.

The public transit narrative is a first-person exploration of the system – history, challenges, successes, on-the-ground characteristics.

Don't fret: it's not overly technical. It's meant to be accessible to any audience with a general interest in cities, public policy, organizational culture and various other disciplines.

What is this?

This page is an editorial resource. Use it to access different drafts of different chapters. I'll provide further direction when we connect directly.

Thanks to everyone who is advising the narrative – and the whole project. You know how to get ahold of me with comments.
